Version 2.0.0: 15 July 2026
Added:
- Vanilla JavaScript lightbox (no jQuery) with keyboard, swipe, counter, and true fullscreen
- CSS grid and masonry layouts with themes: Modern, Minimal, Dark
- Category filters from filename prefixes (
Nature__lake.jpg) - Hover / always / hidden captions, hover zoom, accent colour
- Load more / initial limit for large galleries
- Image fit modes: cover (fill tile) and contain (full image), without stretching pixels
- Aspect ratio options: auto, 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 3:4
- Editors-xtd button to insert
{photogallery}shortcodes from the article toolbar - Shortcode tab in plugin parameters with examples and attribute reference
- Package install: content plugin + editors-xtd together (the install package)
- Path validation and safer thumbnail generation (fit/cover crop without squeeze)
Changed:
- Rebuilt front-end CSS/JS for modern grid galleries and lightbox UX
- Default tile behaviour uses cover fit so images fill width and height
- Thumbnails keep natural aspect; CSS handles cover/contain in the cell
- Plugin settings reorganised: Gallery Defaults, Shortcode, Images & Performance
- Documentation, features, and FAQs updated for 2.0
Fixed:
- Stretched / squeezed images in fixed-ratio tiles
- Images not filling tile height when grid rows stretched with contain + auto aspect
- WebP filename mismatch when conversion was unavailable
- Directory traversal risks on folder and image paths
- Lightbox caption clipping and missing focus trap
